When it comes to the cost-benefit analysis of mobile devices, the POCO X7 Xiaomi Pro is widely recommended. However, my opinion changed after trying out the Motorola Neo Edge 60.
It features a more detailed display than any rival, long-lasting battery, and includes wireless charging, all within a small form factor.
I spent several weeks thoroughly testing this phone to provide an honest assessment of whether it is worth investing 2 thousand reais in it. The conclusion is more complex than it appears.
External Building and Planning
The primary distinction of the Edge 60 Neo from other mid-range devices is its smaller size. Most phones in the same price range feature screens around 6.7 inches, whereas the Edge 60 Neo has a screen size of just 6.36 inches.
When I mention a “compact cell,” I am referring to modern standards. In the past, we had smaller cell phones like the Zenfone 9 and iPhone 13 Mini. Compared to these models, the Edge 60 Neo is impressive but still smaller and lighter than current designs.

Motorola offers our model in various colors including red, green, and latte, all featuring a synthetic leather finish commonly seen in their mid-range and high-end devices.
This phone is equipped with a minimum of three separate microphones. The initial one is located near Dolby’s logo, the audio company that partners with Motorola.

The second microphone is located beside the power button and volume buttons, while the final microphone is situated near the USB-C port, main sound output, and chip shear.

The additional audio output is located in a package on the upper part of the display. It delivers high-quality stereo sound with ample volume.
The Edge 60 Neo can operate both a physical and virtual chip at the same time.
Protections are measures implemented for safety.
The Edge 60 Neo has the highest water and dust resistance certification in the smartphone industry, with IP68 and IP69 ratings that protect against complete submersion and high-pressure jets. It is so durable that you could leave it at the bottom of a pool and it should still function.
Motorola maintains STD-810H military certification in its mid-range devices, guaranteeing durability against minor drops and rapid temperature fluctuations.
The screen already includes Gorilla Glass 7i, a type of glass made by Corning.

In terms of durability, the Edge 60 Neo meets all the requirements except for a screen protector and a case in the package.
Display
The screen remains unchanged from the previous Edge 50 Neo model, featuring the same high-quality P-OLED panel with a refresh rate of 120Hz, maximum brightness of 3000 nits, 1.5K resolution, and LTPO technology.
The OLED screen eliminates the poor contrasts found in Motorola’s budget phones with LCD screens, providing excellent color quality, particularly in darker scenes. OLED is unrivaled in terms of image quality.

The phone’s display is superior to other models because it is smaller, leading to higher pixel concentration, and it has a 1.5K resolution, which exceeds the usual FULL HD+ found in its price range.
LTPO technology is a system that adjusts the screen refresh rate automatically. By default, this feature is activated through the “automatic refresh” option in the screen menu. This setting reduces the frequency to 1 FPS when showing static content to save battery power unnecessarily. For example, the screen refresh rate for videos on the Edge 60 Neo channel is 30Hz.

The issue I encountered is that the cell phone’s screen has a 120Hz refresh rate only on the home screen and certain games, dropping to 90Hz on social networking apps and settings menus where I prefer the smoother 120Hz experience.

Motorola chose to maintain the successful design of the previous Edge 50 Neo model for the new phone, highlighting significant improvements.
Battery technology
The main upgrade in Edge 60 Neo compared to the previous model is its larger battery capacity of 5,000mAh, a significant improvement from the 4,300mAh in Edge 50 Neo. However, the real test lies in practical usage rather than just numbers.
That is the reason we developed the Net Workshop battery test, in which the cell phone operates for 8 hours performing different tasks such as browsing Chrome, watching Instagram reels, and recording videos – as you are already aware.

Motorola has improved the Edge 50 Neo by adding more battery capacity without increasing its size.

The Edge 60 Neo includes a 68W charger, but it takes approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes to charge from 0% to 100%, which is slower than the Edge 50 Neo that could charge in just 44 minutes.
Unlike Edge 60 base and Edge 60 Fusion, Neo features induction charging with a 15W power capacity. This allows users to conveniently charge their phone throughout the day while working at their computer, ensuring a full battery whenever they leave the house.
Performance – how well something is done
Edge 60 Neo is equipped with a Mediatek Dimensity 7400 processor, which is essentially the same as the 50 Neo processor, except for a slight increase in the frequency of the four Cortex A78 cores.
In AnTuTu’s performance test, the Edge 60 Neo achieves a score of approximately 979,000 points, while the Edge 50 Neo scores around 900,000 points.

I think the improvement in performance is not apparent during activities such as browsing the system, using social media, or watching videos – these functions were already excellent on Edge 50 Neo and remain the same on the new model.
The most affordable model of the Edge 60 Neo available in Brazil includes 256 GB of storage, which is sufficient for storing numerous photos, apps, and videos. The device is also offered with either 8 GB or 12 GB of RAM. Our testing of the 8 GB version showed excellent performance, remaining fast and responsive even when running multiple apps simultaneously.
Games and recreation
Motorola’s lightweight overclock of the processor in the games led to increased performance, notably in CarX Street, where frame rates went up significantly from 22 frames on Edge 50 Neo to 36 frames on the new mobile device.
In LoL – Wild Rift, the new cell phone delivered almost twice the performance of the old one, making gameplay much more enjoyable.
Cameras are devices used for capturing images.
When I unboxed Edge 60 Neo, the initial task was to assess the camera’s performance. Unlike its predecessor Edge 50 Neo, which had issues with camera agility, Edge 60 Neo impressed me with its seamless lens switching and uninterrupted photo capturing capability.

The 60 Neo features identical camera specifications as its predecessor, including a 50 MP main lens with optical stabilization, a 10 MP telephoto lens with 3x zoom, and a 13 MP ultrawide lens without stabilization.
When it comes to ultrawide lenses, they may appear comparable to the main lens at first glance. However, upon closer inspection, it becomes evident that the main lens has a significantly higher resolution when zooming in on objects like plants.

A 3x zoom may appear limited for telephoto, but the lens’s color handling and post-processing impressed me. It is definitely a valuable lens to have.

The photos taken with the main camera of the Edge 60 Neo and the iPhone 16E showed surprising similarity despite the price difference between the two devices.

Edge 60 Neo added extra light to this pool, which slightly affected the colors.

I captured another photo using the primary camera, this time on the street. The Motorola sky appeared more contrasted, as did the grass. These subtle differences are only apparent when comparing both photos side by side and observing closely.

The iPhone outperforms the Edge 60 Neo in capturing selfies by maintaining a natural skin tone and not over-enhancing the background. However, the Edge 60 Neo captures more facial details through post-processing, but this results in a rubbery appearance on the skin.
Motorola records video in 4K resolution at 30 frames per second, while the iPhone can go up to 60 FPS at the same resolution. The iPhone has slightly better stabilization and less yellowish colors compared to Motorola. Overall, I was very satisfied with the video quality of the Edge 60 Neo.
System and Upgrades
Motorola is increasing the duration of updates in Brazil, with the Edge 60 Neo offering 4 years of Android updates and an additional year of security updates. The device currently runs on Android 15, but is expected to receive updates up to Android 19.
This is an ideal period for upgrades, as it corresponds with the typical lifespan of mobile devices. In my view, the Edge 60 Neo serves as a mid-range option designed to remain functional as a primary phone for around 5 years. However, beyond that point, the processor may struggle to efficiently run current applications.

Currently, there is no issue. He efficiently operates Hello UI, which I have previously mentioned. I frequently mention this, but the Motorola interface continues to be one of my top choices. It is uncommon to hear praise for it, but it is very sleek, well-structured, and offers numerous options to customize the phone to one’s liking.
In summary
The Edge 60 Neo has many positive aspects, such as excellent build quality, an impressive screen, long-lasting battery, regular updates, good performance, great cameras, and wireless charging. However, priced at around R $ 2,000, it faces tough competition.
- Motorola Edge 60 Neo 5G with 256GB storage is priced at R$ 1,799.00, with 24GB RAM (12GB standard RAM + 12GB Ram Boost) included in the offer.
- Motorola Edge 60 5G 512GB on Sale for $1,150.08

Edge 60 Neo by Samsung directly competes with the Galaxy A56, despite having contrasting designs.
- The two have a battery capacity of 5,000m Ah and achieved the same level of autonomy in our test. However, the Motorola offers wireless charging, while the Samsung mid-range model does not have this feature yet.
- Both devices feature excellent 120Hz OLED displays, but the Neo model of Edge 60 offers the higher resolution mentioned previously.
- The cameras on both phones record in 4K at 30 FPS, but the Galaxy A56 lacks a telephoto lens with optical zoom like the one on the Motorola.
- Samsung’s Exynos processor may achieve higher scores in synthetic tests, but Motorola performs better in everyday use and gaming. Additionally, the cheaper versions available in Brazil offer more RAM and storage.
My preference is the Edge 60 Neo over the Samsung intermediary. However, Motorola’s true competitor is the POCO X7 Pro from Xiaomi, known for its excellent value for money, which poses a significant threat to the competition.
- The offer is for the Xiaomi Poco X7 Pro with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage at a price of R$ 2,079.
- Xiaomi Poco X7 Pro 512GB / 256GB with 12GB RAM, 5G Global Version, NFC, Brand New and Immediate Shipping ADS. Offer
- The price is two thousand, two hundred forty-nine Brazilian reais for the Xiaomi Poco X7 Pro 5G NFC Black with 8GB RAM and 256GB ROM.

POCO X7 Pro outperforms Motorola Edge 60 Neo mainly in performance and battery life. The Dimensity processor in POCO X7 Pro surpasses Motorola’s Dimension, resulting in top-tier performance compared to mid-range. Additionally, POCO X7 Pro has a higher battery capacity, providing significantly longer battery life than Motorola Edge 60 Neo.
The X7 Pro is a suitable option for gaming enthusiasts, while the Edge 60 Neo is more appropriate for others.
If the latest model follows the same pricing trend as its predecessor, you can purchase it confidently. The new model is a highly comprehensive mid-range smartphone that I thoroughly enjoyed testing.
