WhatsApp Web is experiencing issues on Thursday (19) with users reporting difficulties in accessing the page.

WhatsApp users using the web version are encountering issues accessing the service on Thursday, February 19, 2026. Downdetector reports over 260 complaints, mainly about the page not loading or being stuck on the loading screen.

We conducted tests on WhatsApp on both mobile and computer during the Net Workshop writing session, and all functions worked without any issues. This indicates that the problem is specific to certain users and does not affect Meta servers extensively.

There is currently no official statement from Meta about the cause or expected solution timeline of the issues reported. The problems have been ongoing since early afternoon, with peak occurrences around 3 PM (Bolivian time).

Users are reporting issues with a frozen screen and malfunctioning application.

Many Brazilians are sharing similar complaints on social media and Downdetector, stating issues such as automatic disconnection, difficulty downloading files, and other problems with the Windows app from the Microsoft Store.

One user mentioned that nothing is loading. Another user reported that it has been almost two hours and the device is still not working for them. They advised to just stay on the charging screen. Another user attempted different solutions, but none of them were effective.

Some WhatsApp users on X (previously known as Twitter) also expressed dissatisfaction with the situation.

Today, WhatsApp for Windows is malfunctioning and won’t open on my device. WhatsApp Web is working fine, but the desktop app is unresponsive. It appears to be a widespread issue. Anybody else experiencing this? #WhatsApp #Windows pic.twitter.com/OCySx8jePA

The desktop version upgrade for WhatsApp is awful.

How to fix WhatsApp Web not opening?

Meta does not verify or try out these practical suggestions.

  1. To refresh and clear cache, press Ctrl + Shift + R in your browser for a forced reload.
  2. Ensure that the mobile application is open and connected to the internet before checking the phone.
  3. Test your browser on Chrome, Edge, or Firefox and refrain from using or disabling any extension being utilized on WhatsApp Web.
  4. Update the desktop application by uninstalling and reinstalling it through the Microsoft Store if necessary.

If the number of complaints decreases, wait 10 to 15 minutes before trying again. If the issue persists, the best option is to stick to using the smartphone app.
