The iPhone 18 Pro models are expected to come with upgraded front cameras for better quality selfies and video calls, according to a Chinese informant.
Apple has the ability to upgrade the front cameras of the iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max.
The iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max are expected to feature 24 MP front cameras, an improvement from the current generation’s 18 MP cameras, which were already considered a step up from the 12 MP sensors used in the iPhone 16 Pro.

If the leak is accurate, the enhanced resolution is likely to enhance the quality of self-portraits and video calls, as well as improve portrait mode and low-light performance. There are also rumors suggesting that the Pro models will feature a reduced Dynamic Island, with certain Face ID components repositioned below the screen as depicted in the image.
iPhone 18 featuring increased RAM capacity
The iPhone 18 is expected to come out with 12 GB of RAM, reflecting Apple’s increased emphasis on Apple Intelligence and the need for robust device processing. This upgrade will enhance performance for advanced AI functions and allow for more apps to run simultaneously.
Samsung is set to supply most of the LPDDR5X RAM modules for the iPhone 18, supported by SK Hynix and Micron to meet the demand. The new chips are expected to offer improved speed and energy efficiency compared to the LPDDR5 in the iPhone 17. Analysts anticipate that these enhancements may lead to an increase in the base price of the model, possibly ranging from $50 to $100 more than the previous generation.
Camera control is bid farewell.
A rumor suggests that Apple may remove Camera Control from the iPhone 18 lineup. This feature was initially well-received upon its release, being highlighted in the official unveiling and advertising campaigns.
The initial excitement has waned in recent years, causing the feature to be forgotten. Users have also tested its functions, prompting the company to consider discontinuing it soon.
iPhone launch cycle modifications
Apple is planning to host two events to introduce the upcoming iPhones. The first event, set for September 2026, will unveil advanced models like the iPhone 18 Air, 18 Pro, 18 Pro Max, and the much-discussed foldable iPhone. The standard iPhone 18 and a more budget-friendly version known as the iPhone 18e will be revealed in early 2027.

Apple’s decision to stagger product launches makes sense strategically, as it enables the company to concentrate media and consumer focus on premium models that typically introduce significant innovations and unique technological features. This approach also provides more time for organizing production and logistics, particularly for complex devices like foldable phones, without sacrificing quality.
The report suggests that the new trend of releasing top iPhone models first will continue in the upcoming years. The iPhone 19 Air, Pro, and Fold series are expected to launch in September 2027, followed by the release of iPhone 19 and 19 in the first half of 2028.
